“Download” conveys the idea that all of nature is fundamentally connected, and how, in today’s world, technology adds another layer to our intricate web of life.
Inherently connected, we download information and impulses daily from our natural environment - that hunch; the gut feeling; the sense of well-being or fear. We also now download more data then ever before from our personal tech devices each day. Technology permeates our lives. Technology connects us on a different but meaningful level, however we will always remain connected at the fundamental natural level. Can we still see and feel this natural connection through all the noise of technology?
What impact does this information overload have on our natural connection? How are our social connections changing? We have more friends than ever, but at the same time some people feel more isolated. In nature, things die and revert back to nature. But what becomes of all the obsolete parts and pieces of technology?
We enjoy the freedom and expansiveness technology can afford us. But we must not forget that we have a freedom and expansiveness within ourselves, the ability to connect with the infinite.
The artists hope to point out the artistic, social, and cultural implications of this web on web world we live in. The exhibit is intended to inspire a sense of awareness and foster the idea of the importance of balance between all connections in our lives.
